Syuveil's Important Things to Note for a Melee Healer

These are just quick notes that I gathered up from reading other people's guides and opinions. I just collected these for easy reading and for our guild mates who wants to be a Melee Healer. A full healer can also benefit in this, but this topic focuses on a Melee Healer spec.

If you guys have additional information, comments, corrections and suggestions please tell me so we can add it up here.

Important Things to Note for a Melee Healer(MH)

Pros and Cons of a Melee Healer

Pros
  • There are 2 core melee abilities, Verdict and Holy Rage
    • These 2 talents have a chance to apply a stackable buff called Fanaticism
    • Fanaticism decreases the cast time of spells by 0.5 sec
    • There’s a buff called Brilliant of Faith that enables you to heal all party members each time you gain a Fanaticism effect
  • Using a 2-handed weapon can deliver excellent melee damage boost
  • Have a variety of Crowd Control(CC) skills which are useful when you’re up against a kiter or a runner (useful for escape/kiting too). Here’s the list:
    • Blind Faith – Blinds your target and reduce their movement speed
    • Heavenly Smite – Inflicts an aoe lightning damage and knocks them down
    • Numbness – Binds your target with holy energy and disables them
    • Hold in Contempt – Prevents the target from casting spells
  • A good survivability because they can wear Plate Armors, they have self-heals and they have Holy Shield, which grants invulnerability to all attacks

Cons
  • A Melee Healer spec is mana-intensive
  • It’s lacking most of the heals that a Pure Healer spec has
  • You have to get up close and personal with your target
  • You have to learn to circle-strafe an opponent

The 5 Most Important Stat for a MH

Intelligence
  • Increases your damage and healing
  • It increases spells damage
  • It also increases your two core skills’ damage, Verdict and Holy Rage

Perception
  • Decreases your chance to miss and your target’s chance to dodge, block or parry
  • Decreases your target’s chance to resist spells
  • Heals can be resisted if you have low perception
  • Affects the chance to ignore your target’s armor when using Holy Rage

Wisdom
  • Increases your mana pool and your mana regeneration
  • Affects the chance to ignore your target’s armor when using Verdict
  • This is crucial since it affects how much damage you do with Verdict

Luck
  • Affects your n% to critical strike and n% to have a glancing blow
  • High luck means more crits, Low luck mean less crits (duh)
  • High luck means a lesser chance to do a glancing blow (halved damage or anti-crit)

Faith
  • Your heal will ignore n% of target’s wound complexity
  • The more wound complexity your target has, the less your heals will affect them
  • Faith can be maxed

Notes:
  • Wisdom and Luck are rare stats in a Healer gear (Source: miwacho)
  • dchipeev recommends this: (Perception = Wisdom) > (Faith = Intelligence)
  • taugrim recommends 75% on Wisdom and 25% on Luck

Talents and Rubies
Important Abilities
Verdict - It's one of your core abilities as a Melee Healer. It has a chance to give a Fanaticism effect that reduces cast time for spells. If you have a decent amount of Wisdom in your stat, then this skill will be ignoring your target's defense.
Holy Rage - This is the second core ability that you have. It can only be used when you're under the Fanaticism effect.
Perpetual Healing - An instant-cast HoT. Always keep this up when fighting.
Cleansing Flame - A ranged spammable instant-cast DoT spell.
Blind Faith - An instant-cast spell that blinds your target and reduces their movement speed. Also works in PvE.
Heavenly Smite - A spell with a 4.5s casting time that deals an aoe ligthning damage plus knocks your target down.
Numbness - A range spell that disables your target.
Hold in Contempt - Silences your target, preventing them from casting spells.
Divine Prayer - An instant-cast heal.
Holy Shield - Grants invulnerability to all attacks. Useful in tight situations.
